Tasks and projects of the Park Jura Vaudois

The regional nature parks have been given five main tasks by the Swiss federal government.

The Jura Vaudois Regional Nature Park’s management plan sets out projects that fulfil these tasks. The plan summarises everything the park intends to do to make sustainable development a reality within its boundaries.

OBJECTIVES: Pass on knowledge and expertise to educate different target groups about sustainable development and about the quality of the park’s heritage.

Educational activities

The Park Jura Vaudois educates children and teens about the park’s natural and cultural assets through educational activities. The activities are aimed at youngsters aged 4 to 15 and take place all over the park.

Supervised by activity leaders, the children and young people get to experience nature with their senses, look for wood ants, and learn about the forest ecosystem.

Events and activities for the general public

Every year, the Park Jura Vaudois offers a programme of activities that can be enjoyed alone, as a family or with a group of friends – a sociable way to learn more about local craftsmanship, traditions, and wildlife thanks to knowledgeable guides and seasoned professionals.

It’s an opportunity to explore the great outdoors, take part in workshops, meet local craftspeople and enjoy unique cultural experiences, all year round.

Citizen landscape observatory

Then and now: 101 sites have been immortalised by volunteer landscape reporters.

Dry stone walls

Since 2013, more than 20 kilometres of double-faced walls have been restored within the park.

Village biodiversity

Indigenous plants and shrubs have been planted, areas of land have been rewilded into flower meadows and nesting boxes have been installed.

Controlling invasive exotic plants

Uprooting campaigns to eliminate invasive exotic plants are organised regularly, and the park supports local communities with their control efforts.
